Product Overview
Our carbon steel caps (also called pipe caps) are essential end-fitting components designed to seal the open ends of pipes, preventing fluid leakage, contamination, and external debris from entering the piping system. Manufactured from high-quality carbon steel through advanced forging, casting, or spinning processes, these caps feature excellent mechanical strength, reliable corrosion resistance, and precise dimensional fit. They are valued for easy installation, long service life, and cost-effectiveness, making them a critical component for industrial, commercial, and municipal piping projects worldwide.
Product Specifications
1. Material Grades
We offer a range of carbon steel grades to match diverse application requirements:
• A234 WPB: The most widely used grade, with good weldability and toughness, suitable for general low-to-medium pressure piping systems (e.g., water supply, heating, and industrial fluid transmission).
• A234 WPC: Higher tensile strength than WPB, ideal for medium-pressure scenarios such as industrial process pipelines and petrochemical auxiliary lines.
• A420 WPL6: Low-temperature resistant grade (minimum operating temperature -46°C), designed for cold-environment piping like refrigeration systems or outdoor pipelines in frigid regions.
• A105: Forged carbon steel grade, offering enhanced mechanical properties, suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature applications (e.g., steam pipelines).
• Custom Grades: Available upon request, compliant with international standards (ASTM, ASME, DIN, GB) or customer-specific drawings to meet special needs (e.g., ultra-high pressure or corrosion-prone environments).
2. Structural & Dimensional Parameters
• Type: Classified by shape and function, including:
Hemispherical Cap: Even pressure distribution, suitable for high-pressure systems (e.g., oil and gas pipelines).
• Elliptical Cap: The most common type, balancing pressure resistance and material efficiency, ideal for general industrial use.
• Flat Cap: Simple structure, suitable for low-pressure, low-temperature systems (e.g., municipal water pipelines).
• Conical Cap: Facilitates drainage or material discharge, used in storage tanks or process pipelines.
Size Range: Nominal Diameter (DN) from DN15 (1/2") to DN1200 (48"); wall thickness options cover SCH10, SCH20, SCH40, SCH80, SCH160, adapting to standard, thickened, and extra-thick pipe requirements.
Connection Type: Butt weld (for large-diameter, high-pressure pipes, ensuring strong and leak-proof joints) and socket weld (for small-diameter pipes, easy to assemble on-site).
Surface Treatment: Pickling (removes surface oxides for clean welding), passivation (enhances rust resistance), hot-dip galvanization (for outdoor or humid environments to prevent corrosion), and anti-rust painting (customizable color for industrial aesthetics or safety identification).
3. Performance Indicators
• Working Pressure: Up to 42MPa (for A105 hemispherical caps, Class 2500), depending on material, shape, and wall thickness.
• Working Temperature: -46°C (A420 WPL6) to 450°C (A105), adaptable to low-temperature refrigerants, high-temperature steam, and ambient-temperature fluids.
• Mechanical Strength: Tensile strength ≥415MPa (A234 WPB) to ≥517MPa (A105), yield strength ≥240MPa (A234 WPB) to ≥276MPa (A105), resisting deformation or cracking under pressure and external impact.
• Sealing Performance: Precision-machined welding surfaces and uniform wall thickness guarantee tight sealing, preventing fluid leakage and external contamination during long-term operation.
Application Scope
Our carbon steel caps are widely used across industries for pipe end sealing:
• Petrochemical & Oil Gas: Applied in crude oil pipelines, natural gas transmission networks, and chemical processing lines (high-pressure hemispherical or elliptical caps, ensuring safe sealing of high-pressure media).
• Power Generation: Used in thermal power plants (for steam and feedwater pipelines, A105 elliptical caps resisting high temperature and pressure) and nuclear power auxiliary systems (A420 WPL6 caps for cold loops).
• Water Supply & Sewage: Suitable for municipal water pipelines and sewage treatment plants (galvanized flat or elliptical caps, preventing corrosion and debris entry).
• Mechanical & Manufacturing: Integrated into hydraulic systems, lubrication lines, and cooling circuits of machinery (socket weld caps for small-diameter pipes, facilitating maintenance).
• Construction & Municipal Engineering: Used in building heating pipelines, fire-fighting systems, and gas supply networks (elliptical caps for general sealing needs).
• Marine & Shipbuilding: Adapted for shipboard fuel, water, or steam pipelines (galvanized or passivated caps) to resist seawater corrosion and meet strict marine safety standards.
• Storage Tanks: Applied as end caps for liquid or gas storage tanks (hemispherical or conical caps, ensuring pressure resistance and safe storage).
