Confectionary grade seeds with about 40%-50% oil content are used for fried food or feed. With thick hull, it has low kernel rate (about 50%). The pericarp is black and white. There are two size 450~500 counts and 500~550 counts/ounce.
Oil sunflower seeds with about 45%-60% oil content are suitable for oil extraction. It is small and plump seed with thin hull. The kernel rate is relatively high about 65% ~ 75%. The pericarp is for black or grey stripes. Middle type is between confectionary grade and oil grade in growth traits and economic traits .
